Yoon began his career in 1988 as an assistant for the famous manhwaka HEO Young Man. He debuted professionally in 1993 with Bisang Changnyuk (Emergency landing) and went on publishing a number of popular series in the major Korean comic magazines between the nineties and the first half of the 2000s. Since 2008 he published most of his works in the form of webtoon and is one of the most popular artists in South Korea.

His 2008 webtoon Ikki (Moss) was adapted into a movie in 2010, while his 2012 series Misaeng became a highly successful drama in 2014.

His works are notable for their dark atmosphere, strong social and political criticism, and attention to the psychological development of the characters.
