Nanae Sasaya is a Japanese mangaka associated with the year 24 group. She debuted in the January issue of "Ribon" with the work "Kamome" in the year 1970. She is known for her horror stories with occult themes. Despite the wishes of her father, who wanted his four children to become teachers, she chose to pursue a career as a manga artist.
Some of her famous works include "Dartmoor no Shounen," "Ahondara," "Makiko" and many other horror and suspense. In 1990 Sasaya received the 19th Japan Manga Award for her humorous essay manga on married life "Okame Hachimoku".
Since 1996 she uses the name Sasaya Nanaeko (ささやななえこ).
She passed away in 2024 at age 74 due to small-cell lung carcinoma.
