A wolf who meets Mei in a dark barn one stormy night and befriends the lamb, not knowing what he is because of the darkness. Gabu has to overcome his constant wolf instincts and refrain from eating Mei, and has to shield the lamb from his pack's hunts. Gabu's wolf clan eventually finds out of their friendship and both are forced to journey to a place where their friendship will not be challenged. In the end, Gabu appears to make the ultimate sacrifice to save his friend's life.
